A champion organisation in the South West is Shekinah Mission. Shekinah have been leading the field in terms of client employment for years, after completing a stalled new build project using the expertise and enthusiasm of their residents. Shekinah have also been instrumental in supporting other agencies across the country to develop client employment schemes.

BCHA in Bournemouth has been working closely with the National GROW Programme for 18 months, developing their well established volunteering schemes and preparing the organisation for a new GROW Traineeship scheme. Chief Executive Martin Hancock is committed to the principles of client employment and wants to see 10% of BCHA’s staff with a personal experience of homelessness.

BCHA’s sister organisation Sequal Solutions trains and employs people with an experience of homelessness in gardening, grounds maintenance, decorating and cleaning. You can read a case study of BCHA’s volunteering programme here.
