People need support in many different ways. For some, it may be the build-up of small problems that makes life difficult. Below are some examples of the support we can provide.
If you have any doubts as to whether or not we can help, please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss the situation.
Isolation
It can be very easy to become isolated, especially if you’re not working and have moved to a new area. We can assist by putting you in touch with local groups, helping you to learn new skills through courses or voluntary work, and finding other ways to help break the negative spiral that isolation can become.
Drink and drugs
Do you or someone you know need support for an alcohol or drug problem? Things can get out of control and lives can fall apart. We can help them to get the treatment they need. Often it’s important for people to feel they have options, and we can provide these.
Anti-social behaviour
Is there anti-social behaviour going on in your neighbourhood? Not sure how to get something done about it? Or maybe you’ve been given an anti-social behaviour order and would like some support to avoid breaching it. We can help with both these situations.
Difficulty paying the rent and making ends meet
It can be very easy to fall behind with the rent. The letters from your landlord pile up and suddenly you’re asked to go to court. This can be quite frightening, and many people ignore the situation, hoping it will go away. But having someone who knows the system to help present your side in court can mean that you get back on top of things.
Getting things fixed
If you rent your home from the council or a landlord, it can be difficult to get broken things repaired. Have you been struggling to get the heating or lighting fixed, for example? Let us know, and we might be able to get things moving. If you own your home there may be grants available or lists of approved contractors we could access for you.
Benefits
Sometimes it can feel like the system is set up to work against you, with so many forms and different types of benefits. Are you struggling to establish a claim? Do you think you might be on the wrong benefit? Is your case lost in the appeals process leaving you with nothing to live on? If so, please contact us.
Worried about a neighbour?
Are you concerned about someone in your neighbourhood? Sometimes neighbours are the first to notice when things are going downhill. If you’re worried about someone who seems vulnerable and doesn’t appear to be getting any support, please let us know about them.
