Step Up - The Upwardly Mobile Network

Step Up – the Upwardly Mobile Network, is a service to help people in low-paid jobs learn new skills and find better work with better pay.

The scheme is for those currently in employment, but who are looking for a new role with a better salary and greater job satisfaction. Those that register can get help in making contact with potential new employers, as well as access to one-to-one career support and financial advice. In addition to these opportunities, Step Up members can also get information on key skills training in subjects such as English, Maths and IT, in order to better their chances of securing a new position.

To become a Step Up member, those interested should complete an online survey, after which they’ll start receiving information about better paid jobs in their local area, as well as details about key skills training. Filling out the Step Up Profile Builder and Aspirations Survey will allow members to then receive more tailored information better suited to their individual desires and requirements.

Step Up is jointly run by Thames Reach and Clean Slate, and funded by Trust for London and the Walcot Foundation. The service is currently available only for people living in the London Borough of Lambeth, though it will be expanded to cover the whole of Greater London in the near future.
