Thames Reach Wandsworth has teamed up with the NHS and local charities, to organise an open day called Socialising for Wellbeing, which will focus on the importance of developing healthy relationships.

The event is being held on Friday October 6, from 12midday to 6pm, at the Tooting Neighbourhood Centre, 28 Glenburnie Road, Tooting Bec, London, SW17 7PJ.

It’s free and open to all members of the public, and will feature stalls and talks by participating organisations.

Staff from Thames Reach Wandsworth, who run supported housing in the borough, will be joined by colleagues from the NHS in south west London, New Servol, The Hope for Wellbeing Project, Mind and the theatre group Cardboard Citizens.

Participants will also get their chance to share their opinion of mental health and community services in the borough.

Darren Blades, senior practitioner at Thames Reach Wandsworth, said: “The people using our services have stressed the importance of things many take for granted, such as having a partner, and good relationships.

“Sometimes people get caught up in bad relationships which can lead to drug and alcohol use. Our hope is that this fun event will be a springboard into people engaging in social groups, developing their self-esteem and self-confidence, and healthy relationships.

“The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of good health and wellbeing and offer an informative day in a supportive setting. It will be a time to connect, share and learn from each other.”

Free food and drink will be provided.
