Introducing Thames Reach

1 November 2006
The homelessness charity Thames Reach Bondway has today changed its name to Thames Reach and launched this new website.

The organisation was formed in 2001 from the merger of the two long-standing homelessness agencies Thames Reach and Bondway.

But while the union of the two agencies was a success, the joining of their names hasn’t been. Thames Reach Bondway has been regularly confused with Broadway, another homelessness organisation, and a four syllable name has proved unmemorable and awkward to say.

Although the new name has been used in the past, Chief Executive Jeremy Swain said: “Thames Reach in 2006 is a very different organisation to the Thames Reach which was founded in the early 1980s. It is a stronger organisation offering a far greater range of services to 4,000 homeless and vulnerable people and has experienced a 70 per cent growth.

“The name change does not indicate a dramatic change of direction and the limited cost of our re-branding reflects this.”

New website

Today the charity also launched this website, which features our new logo and colours and includes interactive forums and audio. We will continue to add more material to the site, using new technologies to help give homeless and vulnerable people a voice.

If you wish to contribute your own ideas you can comment on our campaigns, share your own experiences of homelessness or support our work with a donation.

Our new website’s homepage address is www.thamesreach.org.uk.
