Make your last working hour of the decade count

Homelessness charity Thames Reach is calling on the public to donate their last hour’s salary of the decade to help homeless people.

The money will go to support the 7,000 homeless and vulnerable people that the agency works with every year. Thames Reach helps men and women to find somewhere settled to live, address the problems that have led to them becoming homeless, develop the skills to find work and rebuild links with families and friends.

Donations can be made from the charity’s website which includes a calculator to help people easily work out their hourly rate of pay.

Donors have the option to remain anonymous or keep the amount they earn invisible from other people accessing the Just Giving donation site. According to Chief Executive Jeremy Swain: "Fear not - these options only appear right at the end of the whole process but they are most certainly there.

" For those that want to promote the cause, a Facebook button has also been set up which people can add to their sites once they have made the donation."

Thames Reach is also encouraging businesses to get their employees to sign up for the campaign.

Thames Reach Chief Executive Jeremy Swain, said: “Never have we needed the support of the public more that at this time when the recession is biting deep. We work with many people who are desperately struggling to keep their heads above water. With your help we can target this money on where it is most needed so that we can help people escape the misery of homelessness for good.
