Artist Quentin Blake, famous for his illustrations of Roald Dahl stories, has given his support to homeless and vulnerable artists supported by Thames Reach Bondway.
Blake was the guest speaker at the opening of ‘Celebrating Success’, an art exhibition featuring work from the charity’s Vision Impossible project held in the atrium of KPMG’s head office in Salisbury Square in July.
He said: “I was impressed with the level of work produced by the Thames Reach Bondway Vision Impossible artists and I am sure that this kind of achievement cannot fail to be of value in lives which must be in many ways difficult.”
The exhibition was part of a celebration of the successful partnerships that have developed between KPMG people and the community.
Blake is an established illustrator who began his professional life in Punch and The Spectator. His drawings have featured in some 300 books for adults and children and he has also published his own series of picture books. He was appointed the first Children’s Laureate in 1999.
Vision Impossible supports around 50 homeless and insecurely housed artists and gives them the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work within the upper echelons of the art world.
