Artists from across the globe with a history of homelessness are gathering on London’s South Bank this month to exhibit their work, share their experiences and celebrate their achievements.
The Ten Feet Away International Art Fair and Festival will involve artists from Thames Reach’s award-winning Vision Impossible arts project, as well as from other London organisations working with homeless or ex-homeless people. They will be joined by artists from as far afield as Russia, Argentina and Japan.
The event is taking place across three venues. The festival is taking place at St John’s Church, Waterloo Road, London, SE1 8TY, between 26 and 29 July, from 11am until 9.30pm. The festival will conclude with a fire show finale on Sunday evening at 9pm.
Meanwhile, artwork is being exhibited at:
City Hall, Queen’s Walk, London SE1 2AA, between Tuesday 17 and Friday 27 July, from 8am and 8pm on weekdays only, and
Novas Contemporary Urban Centre, 73-81 Southwark Bridge Road, London SE1 0NQ, from Tuesday 17 until Sunday 29 July from 10am to 6pm.
Amanda Whittle, arts coordinator of Vision Impossible, said: “While the works on show have been created by people with experience of homelessness, the emphasis of the exhibition will be on the quality of the art itself.”
