Recycle your mobile phone

By recycling your old mobile phones through Thames Reach you can support London's homeless while helping the environment and providing communications tools for people in developing countries.

We accept any make of mobile phone or PDA, including those that are broken or damaged. Each phone will raise between £3 and £30 for Thames Reach, depending on the model.

Simply drop off or post the handset to Emma Rembalski at Gem House:
122-126, Backchurch Lane, London, E1 1ND.

What happens to the phones?

The condition of each mobile is assessed before it follows one or two routes:

Reuse

Working phones and those that can be repaired are sent to the developing world where the cost of purchasing a new mobile phone is out of many people's reach. This is the most environmentally friendly and highest form of recycling.

Dismantling

If the phone cannot be reused, it is dismantled. Some parts are used to repair other phones, while the rest of the plastics and metals are recycled back into productive use. Virtually the whole phone is recycled.
