Treasury staff spend a day with the homeless

Six members of staff from HM Treasury spent the day volunteering at Thames Reach’s Robertson Street hostel for former homeless men and women earlier this month.

The group arranged a number of activities throughout the day, including cake making in the morning and an arts and crafts session during the afternoon.

The volunteers are now planning a return visit in the summer to organise a BBQ and help with some of the gardening at the Robertson Street site.

HM Treasury member of staff Zoe Nettelfield said:

“We enjoyed meeting the residents at Robertson Street and engaging with them through running a range of activities, including cooking and artwork.

Everyone said that they learned a lot from the day, and really appreciated the valuable experience and insight they gained into frontline delivery of homelessness services. I think both the residents and the volunteers benefited from the experience, and we're really grateful to Thames Reach staff for helping us to organise such a successful day.”
