Thames Reach aims to achieve the highest standards and effectiveness in service delivery to vulnerable people. As part of the Thames Reach team, all staff have a vital role in contributing and shaping the vision of ending rough sleeping and promoting improvement in people’s lives.


We currently have 3 Assistant Support Worker vacancies within our Supported Housing service.  These are entry-level posts that are suitable for someone who wants to work in the homelessness field.  As an Assistant Support Worker you will have access to good quality induction, training and support, and have the opportunity to put this into practice in your work with our service delivery teams. 


You will provide direct support to a caseload of clients in the form of key working and case work management. You will work collaboratively with staff and partner agencies to ensure that clients are supported to achieve goals established through the assessment and support planning process.


You will need to have the ability to develop skills in engaging and supporting people, with energy and tenacity to encourage and motivate tenants, liaise with partner agencies and registered social landlords, and a proven ability to develop an excellent knowledge and understanding of housing-related support.


The Assistant Support Worker will


  • Assess, develop and deliver support planning, ensuring accurate and timely recording of interventions.
  • Support group work and activities for clients such as tenant meetings, life skills workshops & peer mentoring.
  • Complete housing management tasks.
  • Support the induction and training of relief staff, volunteers & peer mentors
  • Support key areas for the hub/cluster or team, for example, health & safety checks, service user involvement and E&D through internal champion roles.

Thames Reach Greenwich (8 month maternity cover) – REF: ASWTRG-1117

Thames Reach Greenwich provides person centred support to adults who have complex needs including offending and substance misuse issues.


This is an exciting time to join TR Greenwich as the scheme has recently transitioned to a larger service. We work with a broad range of working of complex clients including rough sleepers who have multiple needs including, mental health and self-neglect concerns.


Thames Reach Sutton (Permanent) – REF: ASWTRS-1117

Thames Reach Sutton provides person centred support to adults who have complex needs including mental health and / or substance misuse concerns.  Support is currently provided to 58 tenants across seven projects within the borough.  One of the projects is an assessment centre which is staffed 24 hours a day (with a Concierge service over night).


Thames Reach Wandsworth (Permanent) – REF: ASWTRW-1117

Thames Reach Wandsworth provides a person centred, asset based approach to supporting vulnerable adults having complex needs including: primary care, mental health, substance use and offending issues.  Support is currently provided to 39 tenants in six high quality accommodation based projects within the borough.
