In-work progression Support Worker – Employment team

Grade B, starting salary £24,135  pa pro rata inc. ILW

18 months fixed-term contract

37.5 hours per week

The Employment team work with homeless and vulnerable people across London.  They provide pre-employment support, basic skills support (literacy, numeracy and digital skills), routes into volunteering and support for people experiencing in-work poverty.

Increasingly it is recognized that people working irregular hours or on a low rate of pay struggle to make ends meet, increasing their risk of becoming homeless.  Funded by a generous grant from Trust for London, this project will work with Westminster tenants living in temporary accommodation who experience in-work poverty.  They will be supported to find better jobs and develop their digital skills.

The project will provide information, advice and support to improve skills, professional networks and improved access to employers.  The successful candidate will develop a network of employers and will deliver group as well as one-to-one support sessions.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic person, suited to working closely with partner agencies and employers. The Support Worker will work to promote the project among those experiencing in-work poverty and provide direct support to people in the form of advice and information, coaching, advocating with employers and skills development. Alongside a project management team the support worker will monitor the performance of the service.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Zoe Pye or Chris Deacon on 0203 6176070.
